Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has called on voters in former President Mwai Kibaki’s Othaya constituency to support Azimio team.
The CS said he was optimistic that the team would carry the day and thus the former President’s constituents should support them.
Mucheru who was addressing mourners during the burial of Esther Waitherero, a sister to the late President Kibaki was however cut short on his campaign for the Azimio team after some of those present started jeering him with others saying they were not interested on his guidance over the forthcoming General Election.
He was forced to cut short that line of his speech and immediately started to read the condolences message from president Uhuru Kenyatta who he represented during the burial.
The ceremony was also attended by among others, Laikipia County governor Nderitu Muriithi whose deceased was an aunt and area MP Gichuki Mugambi who described the deceased as a dedicated woman who served her community well.
Others were former area MP Mary Wambui as well as her hundreds of her relatives led by Jimmy Kibaki.
Politicians, mostly those seeking the MP’s seat in the area led by the deceased’s
grandson Dr Joseph Kiragu who is contesting as an Independent candidate and Lawrence Kagwi Muchiri, also an Independent candidate. Also present was Ms Mercy Waithanji who is seeking the senatorial seat as an Independent candidate
