The former Meru governor Peter Munya  over the weekend  intensified  his 2027 gubernatorial  race campaigns calling on residents to elect visionary and development oriented leaders .

Calling on the locals to rally behind him come the next  general elections, Munya assured the region of being fully  committed and ready  to revive  the grounded and initiate new developments in the area  if he is  re-elected .

He noted that the Meru community should be keen to vote  leaders  who have the willingness and capacity to implement projects and programmes that will transform their lives.

The former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary further  emphasized the need for electorate  to avoid  wasting time on individuals whose only campaign platform is  division and  empty rhetoric.

Speaking in Mikinduri in Tigania East, Laare in  Igembe North and Maua Igembe South during his two days vote-hunting tour , Munya  faulted governor Kawira Mwangaza accusing her of underdevelopment and  fueling disunity in the region .

“ I am personally a very disappointed person because I voted and supported her but she has   failed  to bring transformative and tangible  developments and projects which can benefit the locals this a clear education that she was tasked with  duties behold her ability ,” said Munya.

While opening several Party of National Unity (PNU) offices ,he also  accused the embattled governor of failing to unite and work with other leaders a move he said has denied the region a chance to receive more goodies   form the national government.

“ When there is no unity among elected leaders starting with the governor, a region remain disadvantaged   because there is no team work  lobbying and this is the case in Meru region many developments have stagnated due to lack of unity ,” added  Munya .

He pleaded with Meru residents to elect him come  2027 to help him redeem the lost glory of the area.

Munya added since Kawira   was elected, the county has been lagging behind due to dramas and rhetorical politics between her and the county assembly .

He added that  the rift that has continued to escalate between the two factions of power   has totally derailed implementation of developments and projects in various sectors.

“All the development projects I had initiated as your first governor like Meru microfinance to empower the banking sector actors, Ambulances in many hospitals, provision of drugs in hospitals, drilling of boreholes among others stopped it regrettable but  I am ready to redeem back ,” Munya said.

Munya said he was not afraid of his competitors  who will contest in the same race noting  his  developments track  records will  enable him clinch the seat in the next general elections.

“My thoughts and concentration are in Governorship. We are strategizing, I have no fear I will triumph and clinch back the seat because I didn’t lose it but I was rigged. The person who rigged me was shamed after being dethroned,” Munya said.

He urged leaders in his camp especially PNU candidates to conduct peaceful campaigns.

Munya said he had conducted a private survey that has revealed he is ahead of his competitors.

Munya advised incompetent leaders to stop hoodwinking the electorates or otherwise they vie for the political seats that match their capability.
