Third, Saul of Tarsus had the best of ancestry and heritage. If any Jew had confidence and pride in his natural lineage and upbringing, it was Saul of Tarsus. Let’s read the apostle Paul’s own description of himself: “ Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel ( for my case, I can say Agikuyu), of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew( Kikuyu) of the Hebrews ( Kikuyus); as touching the law, a Pharisee; Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.” (PHILIPPIANS 3:4-6).
You would think Saul’s intelligence, his multicultural acumen, and the high regard he carried as a Jew would never allow him to bow before Jesus Christ, and yet he did. Wow! What would make such a man decide so?!, It is the power of God( the Holy Spirit) at work, and from his conversion henceforth, he never looked back.
His immense contribution to the Gospel is immense and powerful. The epistles of Oaul are elaborate, insightful and very powerful. In fact, Apostle Paul almost single handedly expanded the Gospel beyond Israel. And not only Israel, but to other continents in the world. The Holy Spirit operates so powerfully in his life, that even today we continue to receive revelations daily because of the labor of Apostle Paul, albeit and humbly he says : “Yet not I, but Christ Jesus who lives in me. May we be able to say that in our individual lives and ministries.
