He disclosed that they started the journey six years ago before he was even elected the area MP with schools motivation program adding that now being the area MP, he would expand this and make it even better.
He pointed out that he has ambitious programs like school feeding programs, improving infrastructures in schools, motivating teachers and learners, comprehensive prizegiving for top performing students and teachers to improve education in general in his constituency.
The Daggoreti South Constituency M P shared his experience on how they have been handling educational matters in his area.
Key issues he shared included rapid reconstruction of classes, moving them from their state of unfit for human occupation to the current state they are in, which are comparable to private academies, thus appealing to leaners and making them comfortable.
He also pointed out that during the last parliamentary term, they managed to construct five state of the art secondary schools using the National Government Constituency Development Funds (NG-CDF).
He added that his constituency is the only one in the country that has a comprehensive public school feeding program.
“The school feeding program was started in 2020 and as of today we are delivering over 17,000 lunches to learners in my constituency ” he added.
He said the food is prepared at a central point at Mukarara Primary school and distributed to all public primary schools in the constituency.
On his part, the Tetu MP said his team will work on implementing some of the proposals offered by his colleagues, adding that his aim was to ensure that learners received the best in education.
Stakeholders thanked their MP for convening the forum which they described as an eye opener and which they said they were optimistic that it would enable them make a turn round as far as education in the constituency was concerned.
