The Principal Secretary Water and Sanitation Dr Kipronoh Ronoh yesterday met stakeholders during the Pre-Conference on Kenya Water & Sanitation International Conference and EXPO 2023 in Nairobi.
The is a follow up on the preparedness of the stakeholders ahead of the actual event to be held in Mombasa County from 19th to 23th June 2023.
The Theme of the conference is: “Harnessing Technology and Innovation to Accelerate Access to Safely Managed Water and Sanitation for All”.
The goal of the conference is to bring together stakeholders to exchange practical knowledge, insights and lessons on the climate smart and sanitation sector to accelerate achievement of SDG 6.
Specific objectives of the conference include: To create a platform to share experiences , identify barriers and good practices enabling information sharing and good governance in the water and sanitation sector.
The other is provide networking opportunities for innovative investments and Public -Private Partnerships in technology to accelerate access to Water and Sanitation for all including restoration of water related ecosystems.
Another objective is to foster partnerships among training institutions, water utilities, industries and government entities to develop human digital capital in the water and sanitation sector.
Further, it also strives to harness technological innovations in the provisions of safely managed water and sanitation services, mitigate and adapt to climate change and holistically address the water -energy- food nexus.
The upcoming conference targets at least 1000 delegates and 200 exhibitors from governments at international, national and county levels, Water Utilities, Water Associations, Government Agencies, Environment, Energy, and Agriculture, Research institutions, Private sector, Academia, Development Partners, Foreign Missions, Civil Society, NGOs, Consultants, Service Providers and Financial institutions.
Participants and partnerships will be drawn from WASPA, Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Council of Governors (CoG) and County Government of Mombasa.
Yesterday, the PS was accompanied by among others WASPA Chair Dr. Eng Ikinya and CEO Antony Ambugo and CEO Wasreb Kenya Dr. Itunga.
