Nyeri County will host the 5th Engineering Partnerships Convention in May.

The convention is scheduled to take from May  7 to 10.

The forum is aimed at taking stock of the strides made by the Engineering sector as well as reflecting and celebrating the achievements attained and responding to emerging trends and challenges.

Yesterday, the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) team led by the chairperson Engineer Erastus Mwongera, the Registrar and CEO Engineer Margaret Ogai, and other officials from EBK paid a courtesy call to Nyeri County governor Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga where they briefed him on the upcoming forum.

They among other things, discussed the essentials of adequate preparation for the national convention which will be held at the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) a few kilometres from Nyeri town.

The three-day conference will host over 3,000 participants who will join in both physically and virtually.

The Vice-Chancellor of DeKUT Eng. Prof. Peter Muchiri expressed his optimism in the institution’s capacity to hold a convention of such magnitude and importance.

He at the same time emphasized the convention’s alignment with his institution’s objectives of technological advancements and innovations.

The convention will also seek to showcase Kenya’s engineering innovations and analyze the milestones in engineering over the past 60 years as well as strategize for the future and set new goals and directions for the engineering field.

It will also seek to foster collaboration and networking among professionals, innovators, researchers, policymakers, academia, and organizations.

The governor and his team further engaged the engineering fraternity on their professionalism where they expressed their desire in partnering in weeding out quacks in the industry.

They noted that lack of adherence to professionalism standards and ethics have in the past been at the center of collapsed buildings and other malpractices and challenges.

During yesterday’s consultative meeting, the governor was accompanied by among others; his deputy David Kinaniri, County Secretary Benjamin Gachichio, CECM Engineer Abdi Hanif who is in charge of Transport, Public Works, Infrastructure and Energy as well as Chief Officer in the Governor’s office Lucy Kiogora.
