Mwea Member of Parliament Hon. Mary Maingi participated in the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) Conference 2025, held in Cape Town, South Africa. The global event convened health experts, policymakers, and advocates to advance maternal and reproductive health worldwide.
Hon. Maingi underscored the importance of innovation and collaboration in tackling persistent challenges in maternal care, highlighting Kenya’s efforts to expand access to quality services and strengthen community-based interventions.
“Maternal health is not just a healthcare issue—it is a human rights and development priority,” she said.
She joined fellow Kenyan delegates in reaffirming the country’s commitment to ending preventable maternal deaths by 2030. The conference also addressed gender equity, health system reforms, and evidence-based policymaking.
Hon. Maingi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Kenya, noting that the insights gained will inform future policy and grassroots health initiatives.
