So yes, on 7th January 2023 Kwanzaa announced OMARY H. OMARY (BAAJUN) a Winner of Kwanzaa Award 2023 under Unity Category. The awards were presented as a conclusion of Seven Days of ‘Kwanzaa’ Celebrations in the United States.
Kwanzaa Awards are 8 honorary awards by The Black Americans Community given to the 8 people who are Black Americans & some few Notable African Change makers who are doing well in residing seven Principles of Kwanzaa, and who support the development of AfriCAN Communities around the globe.
The Principles include:
- Umoja (Unity) To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race
- Kujichagulia (Self-Determination)
- Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility)
- Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics)
- Nia (Purpose)
- Kuumba (Creativity)
- Imani (Faith)
And the Overall Award presented to an Overall winner.
OMARY BAAJUN becomes the First and the Youngest Tanzanian (if not African) Poet, Author and Rotaractor to win this Award in American History! Through his bunch of activities that he is doing include his Pan-Africanism Initiative known as Kwetu ni Kwetu, his Poems, Theater Performances, and his Band of which his Mission is to make our home (Africa) the best place by:
- Unifying AfriCAN Youths in Taking action on SDGs and Make Impacts.
- Unifying AfriCAN communities around the world through Arts Explorations and Showcases of diverse AfriCAN cultures, traditions, backgrounds and stories as part of AfriCAN heritage.
- Connecting the stories and experiences between AfriCAN people living in Africa and AfriCAN people in Diaspora.
“My winning is the ‘First Fruit’ and ‘The beginning’ to Show the Diaspora and the whole World the little efforts that we (AfriCAN brothers and sisters) are doing here in Africa, as part of celebrating seven Principles of Kwanzaa, and as part of Strengthening Unity, and Celebrating AfriCAN Pride and Heritage.” Said Omary Baajun.
Apart from Kwanzaa Award, OmaRY HAS been honored some other International Awards include:

Curating more efficient projects and events which will awake and unite Black Communities around the World to be closer to their originality and closer to Sustainable Development Goals – SDGs.
Bridging his fellow African brothers and sisters in growing their Talents and Creativity and in sharing opportunities.
