Over the years the teaching profession has been the most underrated profession. This is odd since it’s the most important profession there is. We all start from being taught. Everything we learn comes from being taught by someone else. This could have been done in different ways but we still learnt from someone most of what we know. We can see most young people who wouldn’t want to be teachers because they think it’s a useless job and it is not quite big as they might term.
Teaching however should be one profession with high paid salary because it is a lot of work bringing children from scratch to the influential people we have now. Take teachers from rural areas for example, they teach in very remote areas, areas which even lack electricity but they still are able to at least try and teach something to children who may not even understand the world of new technology or the modern world. This is because they are not so exposed to such life. With the introduction of CBC it becomes even harder because the new curriculum is more advanced and the pupils are not used to such things for example use of laptops and tablets. Adjusting is a problem to such students
Most students there lack exercise books and other learning equipment. Others lack uniforms because they come from very poor families.
They multitask going to school and other economic activities to at least earn something for their families. Such children are hard to teach because for one, their brains are occupied with how they will get money to help out at home and not most of their energy will be in school. Our teachers still try to teach such students despite their conditions. Some rural public schools even lack infrastructure like classes and the students are forced to take their classes under the trees. Our teachers sacrifice a lot just to give education to these unfortunate children.
They struggle with each and every child to ensure they become something in life without favouring others depending on backgrounds. The recently released results prove that teachers kept on working despite the interruption of COVID 19. It is sad how our teachers are not well appreciated for their efforts. I feel like their pay isn’t even enough compared to their load of work. We should appreciate our teachers more; they are the people with the best careers and the most important professions.
