People have different feelings for animals; some may look upon them as friendly for companions while others view animals as a means for advancing medical techniques and testing the safety of cosmetics and other products. No matter how positive individuals perceive animals, the fact remains that animals are being exploited by research facilities and cosmetic companies across the country and all around the world. Although human beings benefit from successful animal research, the pain, suffering and the deaths of animals are not worth the possible human benefits. Therefore, it is wrong for animals to be used in research and in testing the safety of products.
Animal are subjected to test that are often painful and reduce their quality of life or cause permanent death involuntarily because they do not willingly sacrifice themselves for the advancement of human welfare and improved technology. Experimenters make decisions for them because they can not vocalize their own preferences and opinions. Animals also feel pain in many of the same ways that human do. For example, some scream while in pain, just like human beings do. When animals are used in products toxicity testing, they feel much pain which often leads to blindness, paralysis and internal bleeding that results to death. Researchers can test the damage that a product can do to the skin by using their artificial skin instead of hurting animals.
Animals testing should be eliminated because it violates animal’s right;Â it causes pain and suffering to the experimental animal. The testing of product toxicity on animals is completely unnecessary because there are other alternatives that can be used. Humans cannot justify making life better for themselves by randomly killing thousands of animals every year to perform their laboratory experiments or testing their cosmetics and products. Animal should be treated with love care and dignity. It is morally wrong to cause animals suffering. Animal experimentation should be stopped.
