The mountain region is ready and prepared to embrace Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as the new kingpin.
The leaders now want the former Mathira constituency Member of Parliament to chart a way of bringing together all leaders in the region so that the can forge ahead as a team.
Led by former Kirinyaga County Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri, the leaders avers that Gachagua should take the mantle and bring together the mountain leadership irrespective of one’s political affiliation.
Speaking in Kirinyaga, Ndambiri congratulated Dr William Ruto and Gachagua for a well deserving win which he said would transform the country positively for the benefit of all citizens.
“Mt Kenya has never lacked a leader. With the General Election now over, Rigathi Gachagua is now the undisputed leader in the region. I am calling upon him to bring us together,” Ndambiri said.
He added, “we are all going to him and we require him to advice us on the best way forward”.
The former deputy governor told the incoming administration to put measures in place that will ensure that no other Deputy President or Deputy Governor will ever undergo humiliations that he (Ruto) and several Deputy governors have in the previous system been subjected to.
At the same time, Ndambiri urged President Ruto not to wholely abandon the outgoing ruling party Jubilee telling him to embrace the few leaders who were ready and willing to work with him.
He noted that a section of leaders who vied various political seats under Jubilee did so out of intimidation by some government and party officials affiliated to the party.
He expressed his confidence that from now henceforth, Kenyans will be free to express themselves without looking looking behind.
He said he was optimistic that the incoming administration will steer the country forward.
